Our Story
Dralwa Journeys was born from a deeply personal journey.
Dralwa Journeys began with people, not a plan. Before there was a company, there were afternoons in kitchens and workshops across Bhutan’s valleys: a weaver explaining why one motif takes three months, a homestay host who fed me before she asked my name, a chef who cooked only from what the season had given her.
I kept returning, and the more I did, the clearer it became what I did not want to build. So we work to one rule. Nobody performs. If you watch someone weave, it is because she was weaving that week anyway, and we would rather you sat down and tried the stitch than stood back and watched. We travel with the seasons, and we are careful never to let tourism become anyone’s whole livelihood.
The farmer stays a farmer. What we bring is additional, never a replacement. Dralwa means connection in Dzongkha. It is where this started, and it remains the only measure we hold ourselves to.
