Every Dralwa journey supports the people and places that make it possible. We work directly alongside RENEW, The Happiness Farm and SELWA, three Bhutanese organisations doing quiet, lasting work in their communities.
Regeneration is not a separate initiative at Dralwa, it is the reason we exist. We partner directly with three Bhutanese organisations whose work protects and strengthens the people and places our journeys move through.
Our Partner
RENEW has stood beside Bhutanese women and children since 2004, when it was established at the initiative of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck to support survivors of gender based violence. At the heart of its work is Gawaling Happy Home in Thimphu, Bhutan's only permanent shelter of its kind, where women and children find safety, counselling and a path back to independence. Many residents go on to learn traditional weaving, tailoring and natural dyeing through RENEW's livelihood programme, skills that carry them into a life of their own making. We partner with RENEW because a woman given the tools to stand on her own feet changes not only her own life, but her family's and her community's for generations after.
The Happiness Farm is a working organic orchard in Paro's Dogar valley, with a sister farm in Punakha, where guests eat food grown on the very ground they sleep on. Across the two properties, over 3,500 fruit trees, lemon, avocado, orange, apple, pineapple and Japanese pear, along with a young Arabica coffee harvest, shape meals built entirely around what the season offers. Founded on a philosophy of self reliance, Gross National Happiness and ongoing reforestation, the farm treats hospitality as an extension of stewardship, not something separate from it.
SELWA works to ensure that every person with a disability in Bhutan can lead a full and included life, through skills training, education support, vocational opportunity and advocacy for a more accessible society. In keeping with Bhutan's pursuit of Gross National Happiness, their work is guided by one belief: no person should be left behind.
